Honing Your Sales Plan to Perfection

Your Sales Plan Will be a Part of You Through Repetition

The Law of Repetition will help you to learn your sales plan. Practicing it over and over and over, until it becomes a part of you. Gaining the right momentum during it, finding the right rhythm and pitch on each word. The correct inflection for other parts.

The more times you present it in front of prospects, the more comfortable you become with it. A concert pianist must practice every day to retain their skills with playing the piano. Just like a actor must rehearse their lines to memorize them and find different ways to present them to the audience. You too must rehearse your sales pitch.

Think of all of the practice and training that a professional athlete puts into their sport. You too as a professional sales person must practice until it makes your brain hurt. Just as a quarterback's most valued asset is his throwing arm, your mental capacity, is your most valued asset. Train your mind to think on the fly. Teach yourself the plan in complete detail. Repeat until you think you have it down perfect, then repeat again.

The Importance of Conviction

To be able to convince ourselves that our product or service is the best, is one the more difficult aspects of being a sales person. Once we can attain this state of mind however, it becomes easier to convince others that your product or service is the best. The origins of the word conviction is derived from the Latin word, "con," meaning with, and the word "vincere," meaning to conquer. The basis of being able to convince yourself of your proposition is, to be able to think through the proposition to completion and find the key points to your product.

The Secret to Increased Sales

The consumer will never be able to judge you on what you don't say. They are most aware however of what you do say. The sales plan may be old to you, but to them it's new and something they have never heard before. There are times that you are going to feel like if you repeat it one more time your head is going to explode. Remember that the prospect is always watching your every word, movement, and attitude.

To be able to master your sales plan, means that you will enjoy your work. All of your practicing and rehearsals have paid off. You are able to enjoy the fruits of your labors, just like the football team can enjoy a victory in the Super Bowl. Having fun and enjoying your work is achievable, and it reflects on your convictions of your product, and affirms your belief to the prospect in what you say.

There are some that argue that memorizing a sales plan is a bad thing. It makes a sales person sound fake, and shallow. This is not true though. When practiced and rehearsed long enough, it gains a life of its own. It resembles a living being. There is thought and effort that have gone into its recital, and it will show with feelings and life.
